Deeper Meanings of SEAS Art Design

Our planet is dying. We, humans, are killing it. Mother Nature is desperately crying out in strife, screaming for changes before we demolish all life.

My work is inspired by the future of our beautiful, tormented world. When pondering nature’s future, I can’t rid my mind from images of plastic and flash fires mangling in destruction all that lays at the heart of this precious planet. My lamps aim to evoke a sense of fragility and urgency. It is imperative that we recognize the immense vulnerability which we’ve forced Mother Nature to exhibit in the form of climate disasters. The gentle light which emanates from Earth glows through my work in the form of lamps which highlight our planet’s vulnerability as humanity rapidly destroys life as prior generations have known it.

All of my imagery carries deeper meaning, some more apparent than others. From birds flying away from fires to very clearly depicted sea life mangled by plastic, there is no doubt that my work focuses on both environmental and man-made disasters. All of the plastic found in my work has been found in day-to-day life, obtained through my job, friends, and family. Instead of recycling in blue bins, I recycle into art. I hope that my lamps will encourage you to rethink your use of plastics and non-renewable energies. Rethink your individual impact on the planet, because every single person’s actions add up to make a whole ton of difference. Change is now. Act now. See now.
